Un président démissionne - Un ou une fuite signal?

Schloss Bellevue

Die Hochbegabung Lundi dernier, le président de la république fédérale d’Allemagne a démissionné à la grande surprise de tout le monde. Aprés the first shock the critics quickly emerged about the reasons he cites for his resignation.

In the evening news, Sigmar Gabriel, head of the Socialist Party SPD, compared with the resignation leaked meet its responsibilities. Other politicians are on-mentioned fields with similar formulations. Soon also follows a list of "errors" supposedly committed by the president on his conduct in the financial crisis, the crisis of the euro. It would be too long tu.

can naturally ask the question, if the reaction is Horst Köhler not excessive, it invokes the attacks against his interview on the mandate of the Bundeswehr in Afghanistan as reasons for his resignation. For him this was a lack of respect for his position.

I asked myself a lot of questions about it. As a foreigner my view of things is perhaps different.

I see the president as someone above the political parties, which - for understandable historical reasons - especially the power of speech. It is a human being who is not without faults. He said something whose meaning was perhaps not very clear.

But is not it precisely the respect for his position which requires him not to discuss these "misunderstandings" in public? Is it not natural, that it is given first with the best intentions, in full compliance with existing laws?

This has occurred at any point in the debate. We remember: the interview in question went on the air for several days before the comments. Immediately the opposition attacked Horst Köhler, the assumption violated a constitutional right.

We want the president to take away from daily politics. Yet it is precisely these comments that it implies there again and the abuse of it for the needs of political parties. For me this is a contradiction.

No, it's something that we can not do with the first citizen of the state, he is crafty in the field of politics or "sensitive." There may have been other reasons we do not know or that we are hiding. But I hope that the resignation was a clear signal to behave differently with the new president or the new president.
